Austin Convention Center

Located in the heart of downtown Austin, the Austin Convention Center is undergoing a $1.6 billion redevelopment that will more than double its footprint to roughly 620,000 square feet of rentable space. Branded as UnconventionalATX, the new facility is being designed as the world’s first zero-carbon convention center, with a walkable, community-oriented layout that integrates directly into the downtown core. Reopening is targeted for 2029, in time to host major returning events including SXSW. The venue sits within walking distance of Austin’s Sixth Street entertainment district, Lady Bird Lake, and dozens of hotels, and is easily reached from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport via I-35.
