Eclipsa Audio Tools for Audio Professional and YouTube Creators

Step into the Future of Spatial Audio Creation. A new spatial and immersive audio creation era is here — open, free, and ready for every creator. Eclipsa Audio, developed by Google and Samsung, brings powerful 3D sound from YouTube to devices like Samsung 2025 TVs. Backed by industry leaders and supported by free DAW plugins from A-CX, it’s the perfect moment for audio professionals and YouTube content creators to step into the future of immersive sound. In their recent blog post, Google covers Introducing Open Source DAW Plugin for Eclipsa Audio insightfully.

What Is Eclipsa Audio?

Eclipsa Audio is a next-generation spatial audio format developed through a partnership between Google and Samsung. Instead of locking creators into expensive, proprietary ecosystems, Eclipsa Audio is based on IAMF (Immersive Audio Model and Formats),  developed and published by the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia), an industry consortium that includes companies like Amazon, Netflix, Meta, and Microsoft. IAMF is available under a royalty-free license from AOMedia.

Eclipsa Audio delivers immersive sound experiences to audiences — placing the sounds above, below, behind, and around the listener, far beyond traditional stereo.

Industry Adoption: YouTube, Samsung, Chrome, and Android

Starting in 2025, creators will be able to upload videos featuring Eclipsa Audio tracks directly to YouTube, marking the first major platform to support Eclipsa Audio, an open-source spatial audio format.

Samsung is already leading hardware adoption: its full 2025 TV lineup, from Crystal UHD models to flagship Neo QLED 8K displays, will support Eclipsa Audio out of the box. Meanwhile, Google Chrome browser and Android AOSP devices have announced native support later in 2025, allowing millions of listeners to experience immersive sound without any special equipment. To help creators take advantage of this opportunity, A-CX, in collaboration with Google, has released the Eclipsa Audio Element Plugin and Eclipsa Renderer Plugin. The plugins are first released to work on macOS with Avid Pro Tools and Reaper for an early access user group. They will later be available for general access with support for more DAWS and operating systems.

These plugins are not designed to compete with comprehensive cinematic solutions like Dolby Atmos. Instead, the Eclipsa Plugins focus on simplifying and accelerating immersive audio creation in a way that respects and preserves the existing professional creative flows.

For audio professionals, the plugins integrate naturally into existing workflows, offering an intuitive and non-intrusive way to create spatial audio without disrupting established production habits. For YouTubers and content creators who may not yet have a favorite spatial audio renderer, the Eclipsa Audio Plugins provide an accessible, high-quality solution for bringing immersive sound to their videos.

Importantly, Eclipsa Audio delivers true “What You Hear Is What You Get” (WYHIWYG) output. What the creator hears during studio production is exactly what the listener experiences on playback — a significant improvement over earlier immersive audio implementations, which often relied on approximations.

With the Eclipsa Audio Plugins, creators can:

  • Position sounds around the listener in 3D space.
  • Encode and export immersive audio tracks aligned with Eclipsa standards.
  • Integrate spatial audio into videos that are ready for YouTube and other platforms.
  • Preview and adjust spatial sound before publishing.
  • Monitor the Eclipsa Audio sound mix with loudspeakers and headphones (binaural)
