This is our 12th Approachable AI presentation, this time a live presentation at the North American Cloud and Collaboration Summit 2024 in Texas. These webinars aim at decision-makers who approach AI from customer, product, and business perspectives. AI is technical, but we see technology as an enabler, not the primary purpose.

The AI revolution parallels the IT and online boom of the turn of the millennium, promising to reshape every facet of business. Whether you want to optimize IT tools or drive your company’s success, AI offers substantial cost savings and fresh avenues for innovation. But the critical question remains: How do you embark on this transformative journey?

It starts with envisioning your AI objectives and goals, providing a solid foundation for your venture. Next, understanding which functions and activities within your industry can harness AI’s benefits is essential. These benefits include cost savings, revenue enhancement, quality improvement, or an elevated customer experience. Lastly, comprehending your current AI landscape, your ambitions in AI, and your capacity to steer this transformation is critical to crafting an actionable plan. Every journey begins with that first step, and embracing AI is inevitable. We will guide you through real-world customer case studies, offering inspiring examples of successful initial forays into AI.

Most importantly, many of the most challenging AI problems have already been tackled, and the technology is now mature for widespread adoption. Viewing AI products not as AI-centric but as outstanding products enhanced by AI is essential. The timeless principles of prioritizing the customer experience, crafting compelling user interfaces, and building on a secure, scalable backend remain relevant. Generative AI will speed up the automation of business professionals’ work so that half of our work will be automated in just over 20 years. Like the online boom at the turn of the millennium, generative AI will touch virtually every company. Why? Because almost every company has sales, marketing, and customer operations. Also, nearly every company is a software company. These functions represent 75% of the generative AI’s impact. You can benefit from AI by buying readymade products or building AI into great solutions. We’ll cover the complexity and cost of modifying different levels of the AI tech stack. It’s often overlooked that technology change is easy compared to changing people. Besides technology adoption, AI will drive recruitment, retaining, downsizing, retraining, and partnering.

Webinar 4

Approachable AI webinars: AI in Europe

The “AI in Europe” webinar is the fourth in the “Making AI approachable” series. These webinars aim at decision-makers who approach AI from customer, product, and business perspectives. As we see it, AI is technical, but technology is an enabler, not the primary purpose.

First, we recap the highlights of our first three webinars. We’ll cover an intro to AI, building AI solutions, and their cost. Looking at these through European lenses may look different than in the US.

Second, the emerging European Union’s AI legislation is a hot topic. EU has a long history of being the front runner in legislating, e.g., consumer privacy. EU’s actions have also paved the way for California and an increasing number of states to introduce or expand their consumer privacy laws. The EU’s AI Act has different rules for different risk levels. Classifications to a particular risk level may be a result of, e.g., the activity (AI facial recognition), product category (toys, aviation), and application area (law enforcement). The new regulations establish obligations for providers and users, including privacy and transparency.

We also cover AI interest in Europe vs. elsewhere, AI benefits, financing, and resourcing. Finally, we look at the latest Microsoft 365 Copilot features.

Target audience
For anyone who plans to offer or use AI in Europe, For anyone who wants a recap of the previous three webinars and an easy entry point for their AI journey.

Webinar 3

Approachable AI webinars: Cost and pricing of AI

The “Cost and pricing of AI” webinar is third in the “Making AI approachable” series. These webinars aim at decision-makers who approach AI from customer, product, and business perspectives. As we see it, AI is technical, but technology is as an enabler, not the primary purpose.

We explore the cost elements when building an AI-enhanced solution. There’s an inherent cost unpredictability in this fast-evolving space. New AI models and tools are constantly launched, and the price changes can be dramatic. Secondly, estimating the resource needs may take much work to predict. This goes for data collection, training efforts, and computing resources.

We guide you through the critical cost elements and the ones that should carry less weight in your decision-making. We also bring up some assumptions and their impact on the overall costs.

It may be more approachable to understand the cost through examples. We explore three example projects and their associated costs. Every case is different, and similar projects can have varying cost structures.

Everything covered up to this point is relevant for in-house tools and commercial offerings you may be building. Finally, we focus on the specifics of the products you offer your customers. We touch on the principles of product pricing and packaging.

Target audience
CFO’s, controllers, P&L responsible people, product managers, executives who need to budget and prioritize.

Webinar 2

Approachable AI webinars: Customize your AI

The “Customize your AI” webinar is second in the “Making AI approachable” series. These webinars aim at decision-makers who approach AI from customer, product, and business perspectives. As we see it, AI is technical, but technology is as an enabler, not the primary purpose.

Discover key AI customization concepts, and gain valuable insights for decision-makers approaching AI from customer, product, and business perspectives. Technology is an enabler, and this webinar will show you how.

To begin with, what can a chat AI model do out of the box in a pre-trained form? Further, we’ll examine how training or customizing a model or AI model optimization changes the chat content, tone, structure, etc. We’ll also explore different editing methods for chat prompts and responses. There are easy changes to get started with and deliver fast results. Some techniques result in fundamental changes. Naturally, they come with the associated complexity and cost. Business leaders need a high-level understanding of crucial AI concepts to engage in AI strategy and budgeting rounds.

To summarize, a complete list of customization methods we cover is: base model selection, fine-tuning models, prompt design and engineering, meta prompts, grounding, prompt and response filtering, copilots, and plugins.
